As a 6 years-old boy I loved to watch my mum in the kitchen assuming that spectacles, she has worn, were just for eye protection. (Frying pancakes always causes hot oil to be splashed everywhere.) Could you imagine how she was surprised, when I asked for lending me glasses stating that I want to do shallow frying?
Bear in mind kitchen hazards but go brave and do potato pancakes.

First peel about 2 kilos of baking patatoes, than grate them using the finest grater. Grate two big onions as well, and mix them into potatoes. In the middle time fry another diced onion with 100 grams of diced bacon, then mix it in our mixture. Add two, three heaped table spoons of wheat flower, few pinches of majoram, black pepper and some salt. Feel free to add two eggs. When mixed, fry pancakes on shallow oil to get similiar product to the one pictured. Enjoy with yoghurt or soured cream mixed with cottage cheese with added pinch of salt.
